HR and payroll are no longer in ERPNext core — they ship as the separate Frappe HR app. Odoo keeps HR, sales, and ecommerce in its core module set, which is a real reason ERP Research rates it ahead on breadth. We are not inventing scores on top of that.

The practical difference: adding a field, a form, or an approval step in ERPNext is usually a metadata change — no deploy. In Odoo it is more often a small module change, because views and business logic live in Python and XML, not in data. Neither model is wrong; they suit different teams.
If you want native HR, sales, and ecommerce out of the box, you like Odoo's interface as-is, and your team already knows it — pick Odoo. ERP Research rates it stronger on sales and ecommerce, and we are not going to argue with an independent review just because we sell the other platform. Odoo Enterprise's polished ecommerce checkout, with no customization, is a genuinely faster path for some businesses. We would rather say that here than have you find out after a contract.

Is ERPNext or Odoo cheaper to run?
ERPNext's core has no per-user license fee — it is GPLv3, self-hostable, and free to run yourself. Odoo Community is also free, but the sales, HR, and ecommerce features most businesses want live in Odoo Enterprise, which is priced per user per month. Real cost on either platform depends on hosting, customization, and support, which is why Parsimony's Cloud ERP is a custom quote and not a price list.
