Agents / Automate customer support

Automate customer support with AI.

Order status, returns, shipping, and product questions repeat all day. An AI support agent trained on your business answers them in seconds, reads your live order and account data for an accurate answer, and hands off to your team only when the conversation needs a person.

  • Website · help desk · WhatsApp
  • 50+ languages
  • Hands off to a human with context
  • From $97 a month · 15-day trial

01 / The problem

Support volume scales faster than teams.

None of these questions are hard. There are just too many of them, at the wrong hours, in more than one language.

  1. 01

    Repetitive tickets pile up

Order status, returns, shipping, and how-to questions repeat all day. Each one is simple, but each one still takes a person's time, one ticket at a time.

  2. 02

    After-hours questions wait

A customer writing at 11 PM or on a Saturday gets a queue that opens Monday at 9. The business that answers at 11 PM keeps the sale.

  3. 03

One team, every channel and language

Website chat, WhatsApp, and the help desk each need coverage, and a customer writing in Spanish or German waits on whoever happens to read it.

02 / Sample conversation

A return, an exchange, and a way out if it's wrong.

A scripted sample, not a live session. It shows the two things a support agent has to do well: look up a real order and know when to stop.

  • The return-eligibility check reads the real order and ship date.
  • Starting the exchange and sending the label are actions the agent is allowed to take.
  • Asking for a person hands off with the whole conversation attached.
  1. Customer

I'd like to return the jacket from order #58210. Is it still eligible?

  2. Agent

Order #58210 shipped 12 days ago, and returns are open for 30 days from delivery, so you're eligible. I can start the return now and email a prepaid label — want me to?

  3. Customer

Yes. If it doesn't fit in a different size either, can I get a refund instead?

  4. Agent

Exchanges include a follow-up refund if the new size still doesn't work, no extra request needed. I've started an exchange for one size up and sent the label to your email. If anything looks off once it arrives, ask for a person and I'll bring in support with this conversation attached.

Figure 1. Sample conversation: website chat, return eligibility checked against the real order, exchange started, escalation offered.

03 / What it connects to

One agent, reading the systems you already run.

A logo wall says nothing about what an integration does. This table does. Read access is for lookups, write access is for actions, and both are scoped per system.

Table 1. Where the support agent answers, reads, and acts
RoleSystemsHow it connects
Where it answersYour website, help desk, and WhatsAppThe same agent and the same knowledge base on every channel you turn on.
What it reads for an answerShopify, WooCommerce, ERPNext, HubSpot, SalesforceLive order status, stock, and customer history, read at the moment of the question, not from a stale export.
What it can doYour help desk, Gmail, and calendarSend a tracking link, open a ticket, start a return, or hand off with the transcript and looked-up records attached.

Running on a different stack? Most systems with an API connect through webhooks or Zapier — ask us about yours. If the system of record itself is the problem, read about managed ERPNext.

04 / What repetitive tickets cost

A worked example, not a promise.

No two support queues look alike, so we don't publish one deflection number for every business. Here is the arithmetic with example numbers, so you can see how the parts fit before you run your own.

Table 2. A worked example: 1,200 tickets a month at 6 minutes each
WhatValue
Ticket volume (example)1,200 a month
Average handle time (example)6 minutes
Fully loaded support cost (example)$25 an hour
Total time on these tickets120 hours a month
Total labor cost$3,000 a month
Share assumed repetitive (example)70%
Time an agent could take off the team's plate84 hours a month
Value returned to the team$2,100 a month

1,200 tickets × 6 minutes is 120 hours of ticket-handling time a month; at $25 an hour that's $3,000. Deflecting the 70% assumed repetitive returns 84 hours and $2,100 a month to the team — before whatever the agent costs to build and run. The math, worked further, is in the cost of customer support guide.

05 / What changes

The outcomes you can expect.

Automating support isn't about removing the human touch — it's about reserving it for the moments that need it, while the routine takes care of itself.

Cut first-response time from a queue to seconds
Cover nights, weekends, and holidays without overtime pay
Free your team for the conversations that need judgment
Keep policy answers consistent, ticket to ticket
Scale through a sale or a peak season without hiring temps
Start a return or exchange immediately, not after a callback

Who builds it

Built by people who ran the queue first.

Parsimony's team ran ecommerce and distribution operations before building software for them. They know which questions repeat every day, which ones a person should always see, and what a return policy looks like from the warehouse side. The same team runs Parsimony's managed ERPNext practice; HumanityNow went live in about two weeks on it.

06 / Questions

What buyers ask before they scope a support agent.

01

What counts as a "repetitive" support ticket?

Order status, shipping and delivery questions, returns and exchanges, product details, and policy questions — the ones your team answers the same way, many times a day, from information that already exists in your store, CRM, or ERP.

02

How is this different from a rules-based chatbot?

A scripted chatbot follows a decision tree you built by hand and breaks the moment a customer asks something off the tree. This agent reads your knowledge base and live order records to answer questions you did not script, and it knows when to stop and hand off instead of guessing.

03

Does it look up my actual order data, or guess?

It reads your store, CRM, or ERP at the moment of the question and answers from the real record. When the answer isn't in what it can read, it says so and offers a handoff rather than inventing one.

04

How much of my ticket volume will it take?

It depends on your catalog, your policies, and how repetitive your traffic already is, so we don't publish one number for every business. Run your own ticket volume, handle time, and hourly cost through the ROI calculator, or ask for a scoped estimate on a call.

05

Do I need a developer to set this up?

No. Parsimony Chat is no-code: upload your FAQs, policies, and product catalog, or paste your site, and test it during the 15-day free trial. Live order lookups from your ERP are a larger deployment that Parsimony scopes and tests before it goes live. How the agent works is covered on the AI chat agents page.

06

How is it priced?

Self-serve as Parsimony Chat: $97 / $197 / $497 a month with a 15-day free trial, a chat agent and a voice agent in every package. Custom integrations and ERP-connected agents are scoped separately — the packages are itemized on the pricing page.

07

Is there a self-serve option?

Yes — it is the default. Parsimony Chat is self-serve at chat.parsimony.com, with unlimited website embeddings on every package. Teams that need live order data from an ERP or custom handoff rules get that scoped as a larger deployment.

08

What happens when a customer needs a person?

The full transcript and any records the agent looked up travel with the conversation to your inbox, help desk, or a live person. Nobody starts the conversation over.

The hiring trade-off is answered at length in AI agents vs hiring. How the agent itself is built is covered on the AI chat agents page.
